Dear families of room 105,

Welcome and thank you for choosing Lake Harriet United Methodist Preschool. I’m so excited to welcome you and your child to our new toddler program. I’m Erin Fernandez, and I am going to be one of the teachers in your child’s classroom alongside Amy Balgenorth.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Family Social Science with a minor in Developmental Psychology from the University of Minnesota. I am also currently pursuing my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. I’ve been working closely with kids in a wide variety of settings since high school, and prior to coming to Lake Harriet, I was working at an elementary school. I live near Bde Maka Ska and love involving myself in community activities, walking around the lake with friends, playing board games, reading, and painting.

I look forward to getting to know your child and family to make a comfortable environment that fosters warmth and growth.

Please let me know a time either today or tomorrow to schedule a phone so that we can talk about your child, go over some school policies, discuss what a day in our classroom will look like, and answer any questions you might have. Additionally, phase-in day for toddlers is Friday from 8:30 to 11:30 AM.

We also ask that you send us a picture of your toddler and your family for us to display in our classroom.
